~The Duckie Chronicles~

Remington's Nick-names...
*Reme -- derived from your name, shortened.
*Duckie -- because in one of the first ultrasound pictures we had of you in utero, you resembeled a little duck with plumage atop the head. Your face was turned towards what looked like a duck's preening feathers at tail's end.
*Son-shine -- because Daddy sings a special song for you, all about you being his Son.
*Little Him -- this moniker came about because someone was talking to you about your Dad. They said: "we know you love Him (meaning Daddy)." After that, I started calling you "Little Him."
*Squeaker -- from Aunt Joyce because you squeaked at her every time she picked you up.
*Little Man -- from Daddy whenever he sings to you or says loving things to you.
*Cuddle Bug -- because you snuggle with Mommie whenever she burps you or whenever you are sleeping in her arms.
*Mommie's Tigger -- because as you are learning to walk and crawl you either get on your hands and knees and rock back and forth in a bouncing motion OR stand up and bounce, bounce, bounce. Also, you enjoy being bounced on the bed, or in your Exer-saucer. Sometimes you will stand on the couch, holding on to the back of the couch, me or Daddy and bounce away!
*Speed Racer -- because as you are crawling you move lightening fast!!!!!
*Mister -- Daddy started calling you "Mister" after you turned one year of age because you are maturing so fast. It is a nick-name that came about quite by accident...Daddy was trying to spit out Little Man, but somehow the words Mister Man came out and then got shortened to 'Mister.'
*Lil' Tornado -- because you are a whirlwind! You are interested in EVERYTHING and get into EVERYTHING...and as my adventurer...I think it is wonderful!
*Haaaaamm Sanwich -- because you have an amazing sense of humor!!! This nick-name started when you were 18 months old. You have the funnest personality!

Wheeler Farm, June 2012
Sonshine:
You and Mommie had a fun outing!!! We went to Wheeler Farm, an historic farm that has been turned into a State park for all of us Utah adventurers! We were having sooo much fun that I only got two pictures! We got to see cows, pigs, horses, geese, ducks, chickens, goats, sheep, and learn a little about how a modern, working farm operates. We took a tractor ride, which you thought was soo fun. We went around the outskirts of the farm into the farm's woods. It was a fun ride that bypassed Millcreek and showed some spectacular views of Mount Olympus and other peaks of the Wasatch front. Despite the heat you didn't want to leave!!!! You carefully fed the geese and one of them hissed and honked at you, but you were kind -- you backed away a little and then fed him. At the end of our excursion, we made a Wheeler Farm penny. It was a penny stamped with a cow and the Wheeler Farm logo on it. To make the penny, we inserted two quarters and a copper penny into a machine. We turned the crank and viola! A souvenir penny!!!!
I love spending time with you little Duckie. From the moment I could feel you move during my pregnancy and every minute I get to see you every day I have loved being a part of your story, your life. You are my miracle and blessing, and more dear to me than words can convey...

Tooele Valley Railroad Museum: May 31, 2012
Sonshine:
You are fascinated by trains. You currently have two beginner wooden train sets; one is a Thomas set that includes Thomas, Toby, Dirty Diesel, and Clarabelle the Caboose (which plays the Thomas theme song). The other wooden set is a basic set with a wooden train that includes the engine, a box car, and a caboose. It also has a passenger loading dock, a school, a fueling box, trees, etc. You have a Take-N-Play Carrying case that utilizes the same engines from the Thomas wooden track set; and, you have a Trackmaster set whereby the pieces of track fit together like puzzles. On the Trackmaster set you have battery operated engines with box car attachments. For this set you have Thomas, Percy, Toby, and Spencer. Very cool interest you have. Since you really, really like trains Daddy and I try to find activities that involve them. In our city of Tooele we came across this neat museum. You had no fear when Daddy took you to explore the trains there...you climbed up the stairs to the engine with no help!!!! You and Dad also rode the mini rail's. You both had sooo much fun on this outing/adventure -- and I have the smiles and poses to prove it! Hahahahahaha....hoping you have rails and rails and rails of smiles in your life.

A Day Out With Thomas: May 27, 2012
Remington...you love, love, LOVE Thomas the Number One Tank Engine. Fortunately he visited Salt Lake City from the Island of Sodor and you and Daddy had an opportunity to meet him while also attending the "Day Out With Thomas" festivities. you got to become a Junior Conductor and ride the train line for a bit with Thomas as the steamy pulling all of the box cars. Although it was a cold, rainy day, you and Daddy had soooo much fun. I am sooo glad you were both able to attend (Mommie stayed in Tooele battling bronchitis and laryngitis).
We love to give you memorable experiences. Making memories and spending money on memories rather than materialistic items is what we prefer to do. We hope that you will have all you desire in your life, but if you have to choose between things or memories know that when you choose making wonderful memories that the feelings and expressions you derive when they are positive and happy last forever. Memories keep the heart full of joy, fondness, and good will.

Potty Training...
Pictures Bottom to Top: "Making a Potty Chart," "Coloring with Mommie," "Utter Focus."
Reme:
Potty training began phenomenally....you pottied in the toilet 5 times. We sat down to make a chart. You helped me color in the character we decided on (a hip, happy, hoppy walloby because you are hip, happy, and at times like to hop everywhere). After we hung the chart you went potty in your potty chair one additional time...then we hit a stall. At the time of this writing you haven't pottied in your chair since May 17th....so we are waiting a bit until you are ready.....so excited for you to choose this journey.

The Children's Musuem 4-23-12
Sonshine:
It is a rare event when schedules permit us to do something as a family. You, Daddy, and I all went to the Children's Museum on Monday, April 23, 2012. We explored all of the locations of the museum. The pictures depicted in this note to your blog are from the favorite activities we experienced: the wind tunnel, the train station, the magnetic table, the helicopter play area, and the newsroom. To experience the joy you emanated as you explored all possibilities and played was awesome. I hope that you utilize play your entire life to fine tune your skills and talents...let them guide you into a direction of a fun and fulfilling educational and career path.
Love Forever and X Infinity,
Mommie.
